Links

Well, here they are, the all-important links. There are many excellent miniature painting sites to read, I currently have 28 bookmarked and am still discovering more. The ones below are only a small selection and represent the ones I tend to visit most often but look around and you will find many more. Also included are links to figure suppliers and equipment that I find useful. I have tried to seperate sites into different sections, principally around my main use for them but obviously some sites are difficult to catagorise as they offer many different services or products. I hope you find something new!

The Painters

In no particular order.....

Joe Videki

Not just a great painter but also a site with more links to more pages than you can shake a very large rabbit at - sort of makes this section unnecessary!

Angela Imrie

Angela's site, Blackmoor, has lots and lots of examples of excellent work. I am always impressed by her use of colour and her freehand work is some of the best.

Kevin Dallimore

Gallery upon gallery of miniatures in Kevin's excellent and distinctive style. Either he paints at lightning speed or he's 108 years old! Lots of hints and 'how to' articles that are really useful. I should know, I've followed a few.

Tom Weiss

Another name that crops up on many a website and rightly so. Great attention to detail and use of subtle colour changes.

Irene Turner

Stumbled across this gem by accident. Called 'Tiny Souls' it features some really great painting by someone who has only been painting a short time. Has some nice hints and tips.

Witchhunter

A huge collection of well painted minis that show a great and subtle use of colour. I really like the look of the site too, quite different to the others.

Bobby Wong

The blending and eye for detail on this have to be seen to be believed.

Clarence Harrison

Some more excellent work and a very well designed site site that is a pleasure to use.

The Figures

When I first started in this hobby there was no such thing as an information super-highway and now there are hundreds of companies with thousands of figures trying to get hold of my cash. These are the ones that have managed to part me with mine more than most.

Hasslefree Miniatures

Incredibly good figures from incredibly nice people with incredibly good service. Check out their forum too.

Artizan Designs

Some really well sculpted models that are easy to paint to a high standard.

Wargames Foundry

Again some really well crafted figures with plenty of character. Also the source of the vast majority of my paints. A word to the wise - if you haven't visited their site before, you will be offered free postage on anything you buy, but only on that first visit. This is a good offer as postage is not cheap so be prepared.

Black Tree Design

Large range of figures including some unusual ones, such as the Dr Who figures that are definitely worth checking.

Bolt Action Miniatures

World War Two all sown up on one site. Well, O.K., perhaps not, but a very good try. Figures and vehicles are very nice and the service is very good.

Team Frog

The site with some of the funniest miniatures I have come across. I love the humour in these so much that I still have a stack to work through!

Dixon Miniatures

A good range of figures and one of the few places that offer them individually, which saves having a collection of figures you don't like. (Bad enough having a collection you will never paint that you do like)

Supplies

All the nik-naks, widgets and special pieces of bent metal that make everyone look at you funny that you will ever need. Well, maybe not, but this is where I get most of my equipment from.

Hirst Arts

These moulds are amazing. This is something I have had hours of fun with and if you like making terrain and scenery, you should definitely check this site out.

Antenociti's Workshop

A wide range of quality scenic and terrain building supplies. I buy nearly all such stuff from them. The base-boxes are a really great idea.

em4 Miniatures

I use their paint brushes a lot, as I really like the triangular grip on them and the quality is good. Lots of other things here that are not easy to find.

Figures in Comfort

Nice line in cases to store your beautifully painted minis.

Eric Hotz

Some really good cardboard models. I use the western ones on a regular basis.

Information

Sometimes there is something you just have to know. The sites below are the ones I go to most to find out what something looks like, ask stupid questions, listen to outrageous points of view etc

The Miniatures Page

A massive amount of activity in the forums - somebody out there really does know the colour of the piping on the caps of the sergeants of the Andorran army in 1926! (O.K. I made that up but you get the idea.) Very good for news and other information too.

Terragenesis

A great site for ideas and instructions on scratch-building terrain. Again a very useful forum.

Mainly 28s

Reviews and comparisons of 28mm figures from lots of different manufacturers. A really good idea that works really well.

Cool Mini or Not

Has to be the largest collection of figure painting out there. Contributins from painters across the world and a chance to rate every one of them. If you are looking for inspiration and information this is the place to go.
