The commandoes in this gallery were all painted in December 2005. I had forgotten just how fiddly soldiers can be to paint, all that webbing can make for slow going! These were all presents for friends of mine whom I play Hidden and Dangerous with online and were the first in a new Hot Cross Bunny Design line of fridge magnets, i.e. the bases are all strong magnets. Why do things the easy way...
The Americans were painted in February 2006 and were an attempt to 'speed paint'. I want to start gaming this period and whilst I enjoy painting, the prospect of painting lots of the same type of figures is a little off-putting so I wanted these to look good as a squad, not individually, which partly explains the lack of close-ups. The other reason is that I'm not overly happy with them!
The Captain Mainwaring figure (painted August 2006) from Foundry took a long time to paint but was worth the care. My blending is getting better, particularly with the flesh tones and the figure looks clean.
